Shock choice help

2006 Quad Cab CTD 4X4 stock suspension/tire size, the OEM shocks seem mushy and tends to wallow around with 36k on the clock, what do you guys recommend for an upgrade my prev. chev. had Bilsteins OEM and was happy with them. And where to buy ?
Thanks, Mike

anyone know anything about the Ranchos, are they any good? My truck has 44k on the clock and the driver's front shock has sprung a leak. Also want something heavier for the rear, when you put a load in mine they just don't cut it.

If you search for ranchos you will find mixed reviews, they appear to be average everyday replacements. Not much bad has been said about Bilstein's performance, whatever color.

I put on the blistiens ( yellow/blue) and really liked them. I had 36k on the ticker and was concerned that it was too soon for shocks and would not notice any difference. Boy I was sooo wrong. The truck feels much more stable and less nose diving under braking (even tho I didn't think it was much before). I can't compair to rancho or even stock shocks but knowing now, I would have done it at 25-30k ,it was worth it for me. By the way I went to Geno's for the shocks. I bought them because the roads are pretty bad in the spring and seemed like the potholes would send the truck 2" off one way or the other. The new shocks eliminated that .

most of the white bodied shocks (rancho, pro-comp, superlift, tuff country) are similar, and many actually made by the same company. they are mostly pretty stiff shocks, and will not give you the ride of the bilstein 5100's, but many of them are half the price of the 5100's. i would shell out for the bilsteins.

I had the rancho 9000's on my truck, I hated the ride quality, I just (5 minutes ago) put on the yellow/blue bilstein's so I will know here in about 40 minutes when I get off of work how they ride.

Bilsteins

Thanks for the input, in looking into the 5100's it implies that they are for lifted trucks, but maybe that means as well as non lifted, I spoke with someone at Geno's and he told me they were the same as the yellow/blue just a different color *** !..... If they have a 5100 that will work on a stock 2500 4x4 I will go that route

the 5100 is 2" longer. they will fit stock trucks as well as "leveled" trucks. the blue and yellow ones are not the same as the 5100's. these shocks are far superior to the stock ones both empty and towing.

Try some Gabriel Max Control.. They are about 60 a piece and from my comparison ride better than even Bilstein..
