What are the pros and cons of installing a shift kit. Specifically Superior K500-618L Kit with sonnax valves. Transmission currently shifts fine. Will it extend the life of the tranny before rebuild or is a waste of money? Cost about $200. Will be adding a smart jr to it soon. Also pull a 10k 5th 1-2 times a month.

Definitely a must have if you are adding power. The Superior kits are high quality, spendy, but excellent results.

If you don't want a lot of extra features a shift for $200 beats a VB for $450 dollars plus shipping.

 

No_6_oh_no, what is your take on just doing a shift kit without the TC. A well respected tranny guru says you should do both together. Reasoning beening yes increased line pressure helps the tranny clutches from slipping, but it introduces the problem of bowing the stock TC clutch thus having less contact surface and causing the TC to slip especially if adding power and pulling weight.
