Serpentine belt tensioner?

The belt is a pain on these.
The tensioner is accepts a 1/2" square drive, and I think it's best to release it with a long ratchet from the bottom, and then slip the belt off of the water pump first.
You can't reach the water pump from under the truck, but in the past when I didn't have anyone to assist I've used a block of wood between the ratchet handle and crank pully to hold the tensioner in the released position.
