Got truck back today.here are my numbers. 700 egt on highway at 100 km/hour with about 5-10 lbs boost depending on wind. thats compared to 860 f on highway with old engine. no more black smoke. edge is unhooked of course but even with stock old engine it could throw a ton of black smoke stock. this one throws no smoke at all.
this is all whats new:
-long block engine (head,pistons,block,bearings,crank,cam etc..)
-block heater
-oil pan heater
-6 new stock bosch injectors
- used my old cp3 and ecm and turbo/manifold.
im breaking her in with john deere break in oil 10w30

engine idle rail pressure 6-7000 psi
highway rail pressure 100 km/hour 15-17000 psi
LP pressure idling 8-10 psi stock intank lift pump
LP pressure highway when laying into pedal 7 psi....
My FASS is backordered and will be installed in 3-4 weeks........

other thing i noticed that my old engine didnt do is for one it idles smooth as a whistle and when the high idle automatically goes to 1000 rpm when its cold out it runs smooth now. before it was rough sounding. also the 1000 rpm automatic idle comes on and then after a bit it idles back down to 750 rpm. is this right? before with my old engine if it went to 1000 it would stay there until i hit brake. now it goes off automatically.???
Well I know I hope it works out for you. You have way more patience and money than I do
.
Hopefully all the bad is behind you and you can enjoy driving the truck instead or worrying about it.

yes. only thing i notice is even though im breaking her in if i lay into her a lil with my good tranny i can see the pyro jump to 1100F easily. i hope i dont have that problem again. but on highway at 100 km hour im about 150 F cooler.

Rule of thumb on a stock engine/turbo, is 60mph (62mph is 100kph), 6psi of boost, and 600* EGT. Obviously if you're bucking a head wind, towing, or anything that puts additional load on the engine, these values change. I would expect your egt's to be a little higher (less then 100*) from these numbers until you get it broken in.

the fass is for peace of mind and protection. i can filter with 2 or 3 micron versus 10 micron (stock canister). i have adequate LP pressure now but im sure with the fass i wont have to worry about intank pump dying. i know fass isnt invincible but alot better reliability than intank pump.
As for your question about high idle, my 06, will idle itsself back down when it reaches a certain temperature otherwise i have to disengage it. mine also idles a bit rough when its on high idle. its done it since the day i bought it new.
Good to hear you got it back together. They're definitely right, you have a lot more patience and money to put into one truck than most. Somethn was definitely out of wack with your old engine. I hope everything goes good for you with this one
