I was using high idle for the first time the other day, watching a movie on the AVIC while the old lady finished up some clothes shopping. I noticed my RPMs would spike up ~100 for about 10 seconds then drop back down to where they started. Is this normal when using high idle?

 

was the truck cold?? maybe the grid heaters were kicking on???

 

A/C compressor cycling?

 

Truck was not cold, A/C was on so the compressor cycling makes sense!

 

Mine does the same thing with the defrost or a/c on, if your gonna high idle it make sure the trans is in neutral so it circulates tranny fluid.
