Rotor Removal And 2-ton Bottle Jack...
Rotor Removal And 2-ton Bottle Jack...
Been trying to replace a (RF) worn u-joint but found myself fighting with the pia rotor for the past two nights. After all the frustration, decided to put a 2 ton bottle jack between the frame & rotor... then braced the opposite side with a short pipe placed between the frame & face of the stearing linkage knuckle. After a considerable amount of cranking on the bottle jack...the rotor finally broke free. Now I'm wondering if I could've damaged anything by forcing the rotor off like this??? (The axle nut was on but it wasnt tight). Could I have damaged the bearings or anything else? How will I know for sure before putting everything back together?

I would check for any roughness in bearing when you turn it by hand. Check for any play when rotor is on truck and bolted tight. also Excessive run out. If you have a dial indicator.
