revised problem.
i got the call from the dealer late friday and the engine went from having a cracked head to a freeze plug, about the size of a nickle, that was found in the head under the rocker arm assbly. thats where the coolant went, right in to the head and so on. now here are the questions? what freeze plug is in the HEAD? and how the hello did it pop out? all the "gas " motors i have ever delt with NEVER lost a plug, they have over time rusted out, hence brass for new ones. any suggestions? this is an '07 mega 5.9 with 4k miles. also, they just want to replace the plug, flush the motor, and toss in an oil change. this thing got hot!!!!!! well over 245 degrees.
Sounds fishy to me. I would ask to meet with the service manager and the tech that performed the work. Get their names and take notes. Let them know your concerns and see what they say. If they say the engine will be "fine", drive it and see how it does. Just be calm and professional, if you need to get DC to replace the engine or something you want the dealer service dept in your corner.

I had a friend that sent his head out (24v) to get o-ringed and when it got there it was cracked. When they stripped it down and welded, o-ringed and reinstalled the freeze plugs they put them in wrong and after it went back together it started making the milkshakes in the oil pan. If they are not intalled perfectly level and at the bottom edge of the bevel they will leak and or come out.
