Never had my 04.5 done, kept telling the dealer I didn't want it done. Signed the waver and all was well, now ahve the 07 and it is part of the truck, what a PIA. Foirgot about it till last night I was backing up to hook up the 5er, open the door and WOO-HOO scared the be-jezus out of me till I remembered if came std on the truck now. As far as the problem I had 2 instances of the truck jumping into reverse on the 04.5 when I knew it was in park. Thankfully wife had the sense to get to the brake prior to any damage being done other than scaring the daylights out of her and me. After that never happened again after second time I did nothing else different and dealer never "Found anything wrong". It did happen and I'm sure I wasn't the only one, have heard of a few others, some with damage. BUT & I stress BUT on DC's part it's a very poor fix for a problem that should have a more agressive type of fix, fix the detent, fix the stretching cable or whatever causes the problem, don't just announce that it is out of park, there are times I'm out of the truck faster than the horn honk reacts.

If you have a 06 it's not hard to disable.Just install a scotchloc on the seatbelt wires under the drivers seat.

 

I had it done, I have seen a dodge ctd that was left running slip into gear and back up into the street. This happened in sping of 2003 and I had my truck for a month or so, but after seeing that I never lift my truck running with out the e-brake on. But thats not the only reson I got it done. I had asked my insurince company about this and they said if the re-call was not done and the truck did slip into gear that I was not covered. If they could prove that I knew about the re-call but that info is in the dealers computer that they did tell the owner of the re-call and the owner did not what it done.
So they say. But that is the main reson why I had it done.
