Re:reflash complete, mileage went up?

Mine has standard dually tires, 17 inch wheels. Not offroad wheels/ tires.

I got 20 for the second tank. I went to 600 miles on the first tank and then just about up to 1200 miles on the second. The mileage on the second tank was 21. 23 now just about 11,000+.

Maybe the actual break-in happened at the same time that the flash was accomplished. I'm hoping for 24 or 25 best mileage since I'm at 11,000 now maybe when I switch to synthetic oils etc at about 20,000. Hmmmm also the straight thru exhaust may have helped more than I thought. Mine sounds like a semi but not the least bit like a ricer as stated by others. Go through a tunnel or overpass with the windows down and you will hear a semi! I kind of like it.

Re:reflash complete, mileage went up?

My mileage went up about 1 mpg, however, now my rear bumper is discoloring because of hotter exhaust gas temp. I took it to Dodge and they said that they would do some reaserch and call me!!

Re:reflash complete, mileage went up?

My rear bumper started discoloring due to the exhaust. I don't think its related to the cruise control reflash work.

I'll keep an eye on it when I have the reflash done on my truck.

Re:reflash complete, mileage went up?

Well mine was discolored before that, like by the second or third tankful and all I did was get the pipe cut off square and extended by about 6". That took care of the discoloration pretty much, should have left another 2" on it yet though.

I'm telling you guys there was more to that reflash than just the cruise. Maybe it is all in my head, but it acts different. I wish I had some EGT/ boost gage info because I think they would show the difference. Turbo is even different sounding.

Re:reflash complete, mileage went up?

My EGT's are exactly the same running solo. I have not pulled since the flash so I can't answer about towing. I do not notice anything different in the running of the truck. Of course, I did not have any problems with the cruise either.

Re:reflash complete, mileage went up?

I havent had the reflash yet but with 5000 miles i get 22 mpg at 70 mph. I dotn think I will get the reflash unless I see a problem. I rarely use cruise control.

Re:reflash complete, mileage went up?

But in a bad situation, you may have a REAL problem if you don't get the reflash. My cruise only had a problem once and I am really glad I wasn't towing, because it could have caused a potentially dangerous problem. Not towing it was more of a kick- "hey check it out, it's doing the cruise off and gearing down but it won't slow down thing that I expected someday, guess I need a reflash".

I'd get it, Just my humble opinion.

Monte

Re:reflash complete, mileage went up?

I run precisely 70 not 69, not 71 to work every day. I drive 35-37 miles each day each way. There are 3 stops and about one slow mile at each end. I do rare city driving and often cruise 200 to 300 miles at 70 to different job sites here in a day. That is why I really wanted 3.55 rear gears but have 3.73s. I am really proud of the truck, happy with it.

Monte

Monte,
Which dealership did you get your reflash done at? Also did you just go in and request it or did you get some sort of notice about it?
Randy

Re:reflash complete, mileage went up?

I have 3100 miles, and have yet to get over 18; most of the time I'm getting 16.5 (75% highway 65-70 mph and 30% city). I have not done the reflash, as I have called D-C and been told my truck is not on that recall list, and I have had no cruise control surging events, even with a couple of 500 mile trips. I would imagine that if your truck is not on the recall, and you want the reflash done, you probably pay for it out of your own pocket?

Re:reflash complete, mileage went up?

I have 10,500 miles on mine. I have not had the cruise control problem so far. I guess if there is a recall, a notice will show up eventually.
I have a 2 wd but I always see over 20 mpg when driving empty. I see 10 or 12 mpg pulling the trailer depending on how fast I want to pull it. All of these mpg numbers are based on the overhead computer.
