This may be a dumb question, but when in park, and reving up the engine, is it safe to bring it up and over the redline? Just curious, what level is safe for reving rpms?

you could rev that engine as much as you like when the engine is warmed up in neutal or park. it isn't going to do any damage. the engine will hit about 3500 rpm then back down to 3200 rpm. the governor won't let you overspeed the engine. now i wouldn't want to do that for any real length of time, but you'll see what the dealer tech's have to do for some testing. they hold it like that for sometimes minutes at a time. and some emission testing requires WOT for like 2-3 min on a diesel engine.
