Rearend chatter

I have roughly 55K on my truck with the below modifications. I have had no problems with my truck other than the alternator bracket TSB. I have a new issue that arose last week and was curious if anyone else has experienced. On long interstate trips (200+ miles) when I get off the interstate I notice the rearend grinding or chattering. If I stop to re-fuel, 15-20 minutes it goes away completely. I notice it only when I am making a turn, going straight it goes away completely. I have had the rearend serviced every 15K and just recently had this happen. It has happened twice and goes away once things cool off and never happens around town.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance guys.........

Are you using a synthetic gear oil. The AAM's call for synthetic gear oil.

Ron - I am using whatever the dealership used. Not sure what brand or type they used. Does it require some type of slip agent? I am kind of worried about it, it doesn't feel good at all.

does not require anti slip additive but does require synthetic gear lube.

Thanks Ron, I will check it out. Will probably change it myself and see if that will cure it.

I think you may have other problems but it's always best to start small and work up.

I have the same issue with my 04 3500 sb. Good friend of mine is the foreman at the dealership where I bought it and he warned me of the problem before I even took delivery, its because of the posi style, and is considered normal by Dodge. They originally were taking the diffs apart and finding no mechanical issues, then were instructed by warranty big wigs that no further attempts to repair were to be done. We have one section of highway through town that has a gradual curve and it can be duplicated everytime driving that road (100kph). Supposedly it does not have any effect on durability or performance.

I guess that's good to know?? It just bothers me that it just started recently, I made several trips to Florida pulling pretty heavy and never had the problem earlier. Once everything cools off though, it's back to normal. No decrease in milage or other side effects I can tell. I am goiing to change it this weekend myself and looks for any fragments, etc. I have no noise or anything, I can just feel it. Oh well, I will dig into it and see if I can find anything. Thanks guys.............

Well in that case it would be the grinding I would worry about more than the chatter
