rear end

does someone have a pic of the carrier in the rear (prefreably the passenger side of the carrier) . i need one to see how bad mine is? i dont think there is supposed to be holes and spider gears showing out the sides? ive got some pics of mine if that might help someone that might have seen the inside of these rear ends.

does anybody have (save on thier computer of course) this section of the repair manual that they could email at aandjtransport@sbcglobal.net. i'm going to attempt this myself.

i am not quite sure what you mean about holes in the sides of the carrier??? do you mean where the bearings in the ends of the carrier are? there are holes in the preload adjusting nuts on both sides of the carrier where you set your backlash and preload..

PM also sent about the service manual...

I just removed my rear cover yesterday (to change the gear lube) and noticed the same thing with mine. It had metal slivers hanging off where the spiders look like they have worn through the limited slip housing, 4 half moon spots. I called the dealer and they want to look at it. I found a few metal shavings in the bottom of the diff. and the oil was black and had a metalic look to it.

that carrier picture #2 doesn't look right. it looks like either the carrier was machined wrong or it was rubbing somewhere.
