Rear Diff Make?

Rear Diff Make?

Can anyone tell me if the rear ends on the 04 are the same as the 06?

If I recall correctly, 2003 was the changeover year for AAM diffs. American Axle & Manufacturing.

Yes they are the same. AAM They are also the same for 03-09. Just check the gears. They may be different.

I believe some of the "SO" trucks in 03 and perhaps early 04 had 10.5'' ring gear AAM axles. The rest all came with 11.5'' ring gear AAM axles. FYI.

So the truck in my sig should have 11.5" Diff W/ 3.73 gears?????

11.5" diff: yes

3.73 gears are possible; 4.10 was the other option

Is there a label still on the diff? It may have been worn off by now. The other thing to do would be to have the dealership pull the build sheet - give them your VIN.

Unless something has changed recently, the G56 only came with 3.73 gears..........4.10s were an option only on the autos.

Hey thanks T'CTD,,,

Did you install the Exhaust brake on your truck or did it come on it???

RiverRat, if the question about the exhaust brake is to me, yes I installed the PacBrake myself.

N E time. I did install the PacBrake Air bags.. but unfortunately I don't have an Exhaust brake yet. Maybe someday.
