radio removal
Hey guys, I want to install my subs in my truck but i want to leave the factory radio in it. How does it come out of the dash, i am afraid of breaking something trying to remove the dash panel. Also what do I need to hook up RCA cables to the radio. thankx..

Dunno on the '06, but on the '03 you remove the screw behind the "hat hook" (or "garbage bag hook", whatever ) on the passenger side. The center section of the dash just pulls off (carefully) after that. Stereo is held in by four screws if I remember right. I can have mine out in under 2 minutes without breaking anything.

Do a search, there's several threads on this topic (I've added my comments to a few).
The short version is you start with the cupholder down around the stick(s) and keep removing plastic panels as you work your way up the dash. Take out the rubber cupholder insert, remove the revealed screws, remove that plastic piece, remove the revealed screws, repeat until you get to the panel with the AC controls and the radio. That has two screws at the bottom, then you have to pry it away from the rest of the dash. It's held on VERY tightly but it will come off. I recommend using one of those *plastic* putty knives to get started around the edges. Once one corner is up the others are much easier.
Reinstallation is a simple reverse of disassembly.

thanks man, also i doubt the factory radio has rca jacks in it so what do i need to buy to hook up my amp? and the remote wire? It may sound dumb but I have never hooked anything up to a factory system. Appreciate it.
