On a cold day, I'll close up the cold weather front and turn off the OD. Warms up in half the time.

You could go the spendy route and put and expor (sp) heater in. Cost you a little over a grand, but the pickup will be warm.

I've had my diesel in -20deg weather and after 30 min of just idling, it's up to temp.
My truck will not come up to temp in 30 minutes of idling in PLUS 20 degree temps, even with high idle and cardboard, and the thermostat isn't faulty either. Once it's up to temp it will hold it at an idle, but it will not reach temp from cold while at idle. It's really strange how much these trucks differ for them all being pretty much the same.

That sounds about right.. These trucks are VERY slow to warm up.. Try the winter front, it uses radiator and engine heat to preheat the aircharge, which in turn makes it easier to warm up.

I'd love to have a winter front but it's not in the budget right now.

But otherwise the best is

1. Winter front, Mopar is best
2. Plug in.. 90 minutes for 25*+, 120 minutes for 10-25*, 0-10 2.5 hours, below 0, 3+ hours.. I have found that 90 minutes gets you about 60* over the ambient without the winterfront, it gets warmer with it.
3. Exhaust brake
4. Fast Idle, if you can't get the OE one to work there are aftermarket ones.
x2. I was waiting for somebody to say 3 cyl. idle isnt on CRs....I think Im gona go get a winter front. Shoulda done that when I was over there this morning

I would be lost and cold with out my Mopar winter front. I will say it sure was nice to have it Monday night on our drive to and from the Twin cities when temps hit up to -15 below in some places!

I didnt get one today, but looked at them on the net. I didnt realize they went under the hood behind the grill. I thought they mounted outside and covered the grill. May pick one up tomorrow

what I use is piece of cardboard made from a sunshade with a V cut-out... tucked between radiator... works great.

Yeah, at first I didn't know if I liked that idea, but I really like it now that I have it... I like that it cover the intercooler because that provides heat to the intake air. Yesterday it was 27* on the way to work, with all 4 flaps closed my intake air was between 65* and 85*(without it the IAT would have been 35-40*). So you do have to be careful with all 4 flaps closed if your at fwy speeds and its about 25* or so out... but 3 flaps closed I have never had it get too hot of intake air temps. (towing is a different story, even will all 4 flaps open in 25* weather I couldn't tow at 65 without getting hot)....
