Question for Turbo Guru's
Question for Turbo Guru's
My buddy's turbo blew on his '06 while towing his 5th wheel. The turbo is fairly new with only 2600 miles on it. Any clues as to why it failed based on the pic? Looks like it maybe tried to suck something in...or is it just a bearing failure?
Factory reman turbo? Parts store? Ebay?
is the damage isolated specifically to the compressor wheel or is there excessive play in the shaft?
Common to see “parts store” or “ebay” turbos last that amount of time.
My recommendation is to purchase from a verified supplier listed on DTR or comparable. Rotomaster makes a lot of the parts store brand. And Chinese make a lot of the ebay listed items. I’ve been down that road for experiments.
I dont think i can I can list some people I’d recommend for “factory” replacements. If you would like Message me. Or wait for others to help, have a good day. Dean

Pull the hose off at the heat exchanger see if there are parts and pieces inside' You will probably need to change all parts, You probably left something on top of or in the air box;;;
