putting it in 4x4

it seems weird that you have to be rolling then put it in N and then slam it into 4wd low. why would they make the truck like this?

The tcase has a chain that gets moved onto a different sprocket so to speak. Kind of like a gear change on bicycle.

Whats weird about it? Its sorta like when I push in the clutch pedal when shifting gears; the gears and dogs need to be unloaded to permit them to move freely inside the transfer case.

No synchros in that there T-case for low gear!
