Pull to the right ... Dodge has released a fix

Not sure if this has been addressed elsewhere ... but ...

Ok, factory trucks do it (sometimes) and lifted trucks do it (sometimes). No real rhyme or reason. But, on my factory truck (with toyo 295s) i had a bad pull. Took it to Dodge and they attempted to align it. it was dead on. So they said ...

Dodge has admitted this is a flaw in the design of the front end ... some have it, some don't. For those that do, Dodge will replace the upper ball joint on the passenger side with an offset ball joint. Here is the PITA part,

step 1 - put in at .3 degrees. Does it fix it ?

Yes - Send truck out the door.
No - okay, put in a .5 degree BJ. Does it fix it ?

Yes - Send truck out the door.
No - put in 1 degree BJ. Does it fix it ?

Yes - Send truck out the door.
No - put in 1.5 degree BJ. Does it fix it ?

Yes - Send truck out the door.
No - Replace all front end components. Does it fix it ?

Yes - Send truck out the door.
No - Replace truck and send vehicle to DC for analysis and testing.

The pain, each BJ replacement takes a FULL day. The .5 didn't work on mine so I asked them to just skip to the 1.5 degree. Worked like a champ and actually over compensated ... so now it is corrected with the alignment cams. But if you pull in with spacers or aftermarket springs, they will tell you there is nothing to do to help.

OK, more info. Is this just for 4WD's or does it apply to 2WD's also. Mine is in today and one of the items on the list is a pull to the right. It started after they replaced the rack. If there is a tsb, do you have the number?

I had this prob and it notched out my 300$ bfg's to he!!. but it was dead on aligned. They said swap the front tires side to side..I did and it drives straight! idk what to do. I dont want it to wear these tires too. My tires have 10k miles and the i had to rotate the notched to the rear. they have a lot less tread than the front b/c they didnt stay on the front but for 1000 miles and i need to rotate them but i dont want them to notch even more. its finally drivin straight. any advice?

a TSB will be "public" and the swarm will come in. This is a tech note that the dealers have. As for vehicles affected,

any DC vehilce mfgd in MY 2003 and up with a "redesigned" straight front axle.

So,

4x4 Jeeps (all products)
4x4 dodge
4x4 Mercedes HD trucks (Europe)

My advise is to tell them "it pulls to the right" please check the alignment. And FYI, Dodge warrants the alignment for 12 months\12000 miles ... it is in your book !!! If it doesn't align, make em do it. If it pulls, ask them about offset ball joints and ask them to call the regional service manager.
