PTO Questions
PTO Questions
Was looking for some PTO information in the owners manual & it is not covered there! Anyway, Couple of questions (I have the NV 5600 6 speed trans):
What is the most Hp that can be pulled thru the PTO
What is the gear tooth count or how can I figure out what output speed thru the PTO gear will be.
How do you control the idle speed (2x4 & power seat?), or will it vary fom 700 to 800 rpm?
I was hoping to couple up a small drive shaft but it looks like all that there will be room for is a hydraulic pump.

Since you have manual tranny, it will be simple to control the PTO. The PTO gear on the tranny is turning any time the clutch is engaged (foot off pedal).
To engage the PTO accessory, disengage the clutch, engage the drive on the accessory, re-engage the clutch. Same steps to turn off the PTO accessory.
The max PTO speed is probably in the neighborhood of 540-1000 RPMs. Just use the go pedal, to control speed, same as when driving. If only running a hydraulic pump, you won't really have to rev it up a whole lot. 1500 engine RPMs would probably be more than enough, most of the time.
MAKE SURE TO DISENGAGE THE PUMP WHEN DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD.
You can drive slowly (as in pulling up, if dumping a load) with it on, but not down the road.
You can buy a hydraulic pump that doesn't require a driveshaft. They (the drive and the pump) are bolted to gether as one unit.
Max HP, not sure. Probably no more than a 25 HP requirement. Won't use that much with just the pump.
