Power Steering Fluid Change?

Should the power steering fluid be changed periodically? My truck is 5 years old has 120K miles.

I have never heard of changing your power steering fluid, just make sure it's topped off.

At about 50,000 miles I sucked out all that was in the reservoir with a turkey baster and just replaced with new fresh fluid. It wasn't a system drain but it sure can't hurt to Fresh'n things up a bit.

Pretty much the same here. It's easy to do.

I use a turkey baster too......and suck it out and replace every 20K miles or so........with a host of other fluids/maintenance.

It's so easy to do, why not?

Then I just leave the old ATF in the baster and use it on the turkey....

I use the turkey baster method and change the fluid in the reservoir every 20k like TexasCTD. I figure if do it that often than it will never really get dirty. After the first 30k miles the fluid was only a slight bit darker than the new that went in. FYI, there is a screen at the bottom of the reservoir that you don't want to damage with the baster. Make sure you stick the baster in there ever so carefully so as not to puncture the screen. It's closer to the bottom and I didn't have any problems while being cautious. I also take the reservoir cap off and clean it in a dish soap/water solution so that I know the vent is always working properly. If it isn't working properly than the cap might blow off the reservoir if the fluid gets hot, or worse. This is more a problem with people who run bigger tires though, with stock tires there shouldn't be a problem.
