Is it possible to bend REAR Axle?!?!?!?
Well, I bent my front axle a month or so ago and all that has been fixed/upgraded. However, I have a concern about the rear end. Looking at it now it seems the tops of the tires are leaning in towards the body, more so on the drivers side. Im just wondering is it possible to bend the rear axle houseing? Ive heard of tons of front housings bending but no rear housings. I know it was a severe impact that I went through (4' of air at 80mph hitting a hill on the upside when I landed) but there is much less weight and a much beefier axle housing. Has anyone heard or bent one before? I am getting it to a shop here soon to have it looked at but wanted some input first.
Unfortunately I only had a ton of people see it and some video right after I was able to straighten it up...on the good side it showed exactly how bad I wooped the Duramax!
That interesting, they both have the same tube thickness....I would just be really surprised that I bent it considering all these guys at the dunes jumping thier trucks etc with no issues (as far as I know anyways). But you are right...if it can happen it WILL happen, to me at least lol!

Where did you catch 4' of air at the sand drags? And how the heck did I miss that?
The drags were a blast. Just wish I had a tranny so I could have turned up the Quad box also. I kept getting my **** handed to me!

Ya pupeperson, hence my front one! LOL, I just never have heard of the rear one bending. But ya ptgarcia it was at the sand drags...I kept my foot in it for a long a$$ time. I guess 5 truck lengths on the DMax wasnt enough!

I have personally seen bent axles from constant over load. The one that I remember the best was an old 87 1 ton chevy dump truck that had a rather large bed that was filled with old shingels on a daily basis. You could clearly see the negative camber bent into the axle, and I had to BEAT the axle back in after changing the wheel seal on the passenger side.
I personally would not worry about it. All the weight and momentum is going forward and the front end takes the beating. The rear has very little weight. I never heard of one of our trucks bending the rear in the dunes or dez. Unless you plan on doing multiple rolls.

LOL ya thats kind of what I was thinking as well...maybe landing sideways could do it like I did. We will see, I am on the fence as to get it looked at or not since they would have to take the axle apart to check it....even though you can see the camber a little bit as it is. I might do it, it will give me a chance to make the rear housing match the front! LOL!
No one in my circle has bent a rear yet even after some fairly high jumps.
The RPM KORE team trussed the rear but when I asked if they had ever damaged one I was told no and at the 1k they were running pretty close to stock height suspension
