Rear axle off center??? Is this possible???
Rear axle off center??? Is this possible???
I hope someone can shed some light on what is going on here with my truck. My truck is a 2000 Dodge Quad Cab Diesel 4x4 Dually. I have noticed that my rear tires stick out a little bit more on the driver side than on the passenger side??? Is this possible??? Could the rear axle be off center a little bit???
Thanks for your time and any info you could provide.

When you say they stick out a little more, is that just a visual observation? You need to measure from the frame out to the inner edge of the drum on both sides and frame to the pinion on both sides and compare. If one side appears to be out further that the other, it may be a manufacturing defect with the fenders.
Re:Rear axle off center??? Is this possible???
I would think that the body should be placed on center. Have you owned the truck since it was new? Was it in a wreck? Springs sacked on one side?

Does it drive straight? I ask that, because a buddy had a Chevy truck whose rear end was out of alignment from the factory and always had a slight pull to it until we figured out what was wrong with it.

Maybe the bed is not straight on the frame. look at the bed to cab alinement. I loosen six bolts and moved mine around to aline. It was sticking out to one side of the cab and gravel was hitting that side real bad chipping the paint. SNOKING
