I had an interesting conversation with Dave Georend about ATF. He said straight weight 30 is what we all used in the old days, and today too much is put into synthetics. People put WAY too much into choosing an ATF, like it is a life or death decision. All the while you are being trapped by Madision Ave. advertizing crap.

Just use a good quality ATF, flush it every 30K and save your money. I got 185K miles on my original tranny before I upgraded to a Georend.

I have a G56 (stick) so flushing isn't much of an option. I can change it often as that isn't a problem. I have to use a ATF with a +4 rating to cover the DC warr. These are all cheaper that buying the stuff they call for at the dealer so that is why I have a poll goin.

pennzoil syncromesh (for the 5600), I buy it in 5 gallon buckets for around 110 bucks. I use atf 3 for the transfercase. same trasfercase as in the past when they recommended 3. the pennzoil is 5.48 a quart in the 5 gallons , 5.68 if bought in the case in bottles. dealer retail for the quart bottles 29 bucks each

The specs on the 3 oils you listed are basically identical. They all meet current warranty requirements for new vehicles, therefore thier additive packages are identical.
Use a synthetic ATF and it doesn't matter. There is a big difference between mineral ATF and synthetics as far as oxidation resistance. But, that's because of the difference between the mineral and synthetic, not the additives.

Would it be possible to add the new Valvoline ATF+4 to the voting? I'm about to buy it for my change.

Thanks!
