No. Many mag hytec products are O-ring sealed rather than gasket sealed - including the front and rear diff covers for our trucks. The transmission pan however for the 727 transmission bodies on our trucks require a gasket.

The correct gasket for your pan is a Transtar part #3859F gasket.

I have the MH rear and am happy with it, and the 8 qts it holds.

At my next fluid change I will put something on the front to make changes easier. I am not sure yet, but probably not a MH, don't need the capacity or $$ for the front. Also the fitment issues with leveled trucks.

Do you guys have to replace the orings on the MH covers ever time you pull them?

I bought a couple at a local transmission supply store in Calgary, along with filters.

Check here: http://www.transtarindustries.com/ for online shopping and locations. The shop I got mine at was not an actual transtar location. You can also order them from Mag Hytec.

I've got the MH rear diff and DD trans pan. Great quality and fit, I also like the magnetic dipstick on the rear diff pan. My only concern with the rear diff cover is that the spare tire is very close to the cover and may even overlap the top of the cover if I don't pull it back a little when raising it up. I'm running the stock 265/70R17 spare. If I were to bottom out the rear axle and the tire were overlapping it could potentially hit the cover.

I've got a 35" Toyo MT spare and it fits fine with the dif cover - you can just see the edge of it in the above picture. YMMV if you're running a short-box.

Thats amazing as my 285 has to be strapped as far aft as I can get it so that it doesn't hit the axle. If its centered by the cable then it has about 1" of contact area with the diff cover.

Yup, 35/12.5R17 on the stock rim, sucked right up where the stock spare goes, no issues at all.

You can see it a bit better in this shot

I wonder what the difference is??

Note: I do not have issues unless the suspension compresses 3-4", like with a load and driving on a dirt road where the suspension cycles more than normal.
