Please Help Truck Lunging

06 mega cab,6500 miles
When driving at normal speeds down the road I experience a lunging or an extreme miss (major hiccup). The tach doesn't seem to drop and it only seems to happen after the truck has been driven for 30 miles or so.I have noticed it does it almost every time I hall my 8 by 16 enclosed trailer in tow/hall or overdrive. With out the trailer I can go a day or two with out it happening at times. The truck has thrown one code P0088 I took it to the dealer and they cleared it so the engine light would shut off and it hasn't come back yet.I hav'nt done any mods besides 315 tires and a AFE stage 2.The AFE is now off the truck and stock air filter put back on intill this problem is taken care of. The bucking seems to be happening more often but runs fine the rest of the time.Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,Tim

First thing I think of if its acting like its misfiring etc is bad fuel, or clogged fuel filter, and its easy to change out a filter. But I am not sure thats your issue.

Looking up the P0088 code here says Fuel Rail Pressure Too High. What did the dealer say about the cause & effect of that code? Or did they merely clear the code and pat you on the butt to get you out the door?

You mentioned it happens all the time in tow haul mode; I have a stick shift, and I am not sure what kind of shenanigans an auto transmission can do if its malfunctioning.

The truck has been doing this for over a month and it seems to be happening more frequent.I started adding Howe's power cleaner in the last 3 tanks of fuel.I have'nt changed the fuel filter yet but will give it a try.Today I put 120 miles on and it started acting up after 32 miles of driving. It stumbled around 6 times off and on for the next 30 miles and drove perfect the rest of the way home. When the P0088 (fuel rail pressure to high)code appeared they just cleared it and sent me on my way.I just had the oil changed ,I wish I would of had a oil analysis done. What would make the fuel rail pressure to high on a stock truck with no boxes?I don't think it is the tranny it seems to shift fine.but at this point I wish it would just break so I could get it fixed.
