pitman arm

did a serach but...

where can i purchase a 45* pitman arm? the stock one on my trk and the way the tie rod bolts to the top looks like too much stress on the tie rod.
saw a pic on here of a 45* angle pitman arm so i thought i would try it.

so i called a vendor, and the technician said that i didn't need a new pitman arm. he said the stock arm was good for the amount of lift i added.
they never heard of any tie rod end failures at the pitman arm becuase of a 2" leveling kit being added.

how many of you have changed the pitman arm becuase the angle seemed be too much? i would rather the tie rod be mounted from the bottom. am i just being too ****? lol
thanks

The one that's used with the '08 steering tie rod upgrade has an angle to it...although I'm not sure it's exactly a 45°. It's only about $50 if I remember.

I believe the only aftermarket drop pitmans you'll find start at 4" and that's why they say you don't need one for 2". The area around 2-to-4" of lift seems to be a problem for draglink geometry. I have a 4" pitman with spring spacers on mine. The PO had the pucks put in before I bought it. I think they are at least 2", maybe more, but it works much better with the drop pitman than it did before and the draglink/track bar are pretty close to parallel. Here's a pic of the spacer, you can see it at the right edge of the pic:

the draglink and track bar on my trk are very close to being at the same angle even with the 2" spring spacers. but the way the tie rod bolts to the pitman arm just seems to be in a bind. if for any reason this truck catchs' some air, it would probably fail.

i may still order a replacement arm from dodge or get a 3"-5" lift arm after reading your reply
