Pinion seal....
Pinion seal....
Looks like I have a pinion seal going on my 03. The bottom of the front diff was pretty gunky. I cleaned/degreased the entire bottom of it and added some more lube (slightly less than 1qt low!) then drove about 20-25 miles before I checked under the truck to see the extent. It had leaked enough to begin to form a drip right at the lowest point of the diff. How difficult is it to replace the seal? What is the part number to replace it?
You might want to see my situation that started as a leaky front diff pinion seal that has now turned into a toasted front diff: https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...d.php?t=165855
sdaly I actually read both of your threads last night prior to posting this thread. Interesting info. I won't be having the dealer do my work, obviously. But all I will change in my truck is the seal. I probably won't do it, I just don't feel like it and I have the money to have it done by my mechanic.
