Question p0251 help/information

I know its P0251 Injection Pump Fuel Valve Feedback ,just a couple of questions, truck loses power smokes a little and dies, motor is at full temp every time it died(6 times in 4 days)
#1 what do you think it is pump or relief valve
#2 is it covered under the 7/70 or 100 cummins or not at all
truck has 55k on it and not many problems stock since 20k quad standard before that.

thanks in advance

I say it's the fuel pump. but if the pumps test ok then my next guess is the Fuel Control Actuator.

let use know what you find.

BTW, yes it should be warranty.

you were right ******(Fuel Control Actuator)the dealer ship called today and said that's what it was, overnight air from chicago will be fixed tomorrow.would you happen to know if that would be covered under the 7/70
or 100k cummins?
I am well over the 36k.

These are different codes this time!!!!

P0521-OIL PRESSURE SWITCH RATIONALITY

WHEN MONITORED
While the key is on.

SET CONDITION
Oil pressure is detected with engine RPM = 0 for 30 seconds .

POSSIBLE CAUSES
  • Oil pressure switch
  • (G6) Signal circuit open
  • Intermittent condition
  • ECM

P0483-FAN SPEED

WHEN MONITORED
While the engine is running.

SET CONDITION
The actual fan speed is less than 75 RPM or more than 4000 RPM .

POSSIBLE CAUSES
  • Other DTC's
  • (K161) Signal circuit short to (K668) 5-volt supply circuit
  • (K161) Signal circuit open from ECM to fan clutch assembly
  • (K668) 5-Volt supply CKT open from ECM harness connector to fan clutch harness connector
  • Intermittent condition
  • (K161) Signal circuit shorted to (690) return in the harness
  • (K161) Signal circuit shorted to voltage
  • (K161) Signal circuit in ECM shorted to ground inside ECM
  • (K161) Signal circuit shorted to voltage in the ECM
  • (K668) 5-Volt supply circuit in ECM
P0483 seems to be a popular code these last few weeks
I don't have much advice for those codes......
