06 Mega all over the road HELP

My 06 Mega with 10k in miles seems to be floating all over the road when I drive. When I am going down the interstate I can move the steering wheel 1/2" left or right but the truck keeps on going straight. The truck is a 4x4 with stock trim.

Any thoughts???

Tires over pressured ,out of round or unbalanced? I would start with the tires first ,then keep on looking.

Sounds like it might be a problem with the steering box itself. I would get it to the dealer ASAP. Sounds like a serious safety issue. You might look under to see if anything is loose but it should be a warranty issue and if they tell you to drive it as is I would request that they give you a letter to that effect.

I would check tire pressure first, then if you don't find anything, off to the dealer. It should be covered under your warrantee.

I doubt tire pressure. If you can turn it a 1/2 turn either way and still drive straight, you have something wrong in the steering system!!

Big difference between 1/2" and 1/2 turn.

I'm better now so go ahead and check tire pressure first!! (Then maybe the dealer)

I`m sure this has crossed your mind, but have your set your front tire pressure to 65 plus PSI. Low tire pressure will cause all sorts of steering problems... Just a thought...

i kept my 04 at 45 psi due to rough roads, helped ride a bit, maybe lost .5mpg

i would look at the "rag joint" if these trucks have one.
would be between the firewall & steering box.

I have a 07' that is doing the same thing and it is driving me nuts. The truck only has 300 miles on it. I ordered a DSS setup and will install it tomorrow morning to see if it can rectify the problem. I would rather try that fix before letting the dealer tear into a brand new pickup. If it doesn't help, I'll take it into the dealer. Please let me know what your dealer finds.

Well I installed the product this morning and WOW, what a difference. I highly reccommend it. I have a feeling (and hoping) that it will prevent future issues in the years to come.
