I was thinking the part may be cheaper than the $100 deductible.
taking it in tonight, either way.

new filter - $18

04ctd, let me know how it works out at your dealer. I'm in the same boat as you.

Thanks.

I don't believe that a TSB has anything to do with a warranty. It is a bulletin for the dealership to diagnose a problem. If you are out of warranty, then you will have to pay the full cost of the repair, regardless if there is a TSB published or not.

Jusbecuz is right, TSBs have nothing to do with warranty and the dealer is under no obligation to fix any problem covered in a TSB. TSBs are not recalls. You will have to pay the full price.

the full price, being the $100 deductible, right?

the powertrain warranty goes to 100k,

so the tranny is under warranty,
it does have a problem,
and this TSB sounds like the fix to the problem,

so they should do the work, and charge me the standard $100 deductible under the 100k power train warranty, correct?

if the part is $35 like posted, we should put that in a sticky post or something, because I just did the fluid & filter change, and I would have done that while in there as "preventive maintenance"

or when someone posts about a tranny maintenance, one of us jump in that thread, and say "YMMY, but recommend change out this part"

i got a small fortune in ATF-4, 7 quarts at $6 each, would have saved $35 in fluid by changing the governor while in there for filter.

If you're referring to the truck (06) in your sig, do you have a 100K powertrain warranty? I thought mine (an 04.5) was one of the most liberal they ever offered (7yr/70,000mi) and that was later discontinued - I thought - in 2006.

There is a Cummins warranty (serviced by Chrysler) that goes to 100k. But, I don't believe that it covers the transmission.

Unless you bought supplemental warranty coverage, you might not be covered.

i dunno

my service writer said today my 06 was under the 100k mile powertrain warranty.
(my understanding is the Cummins 70k warranty is after the 30k chrysler warranty) (this has been hashed out on here, do a search)

it was storming and raining here today, and the convertible in my avatar is my only other car, so we are waiting till next week to take it in.

will advise then

Wow hope the 06s are under the 100K powertrain warranty, but when I bought mine, I was told 3/36 on the bumper to bumper and a 100K on the Cummins.

2005 was the the last year for 7yr/70k powertrain warranty with $100 deductable for each vist after 3yr/36k
2006 powertrain warranty is 3yr/36k

2006 Cummins motor is 5yr/100k page 23 warranty book

http://www.dodge.com/en/owners/

04ctd - check your warranty manual. you don't want a nasty surprise when the service writer fiquires out his mistake and charges you full repair bill.
