I put in a call to both, thanks, still havent heard back. I am sure I will though.

So here is why I am so confused...the mechanic I was just talking to here, said that re-building them wont work, I need new ones, but doesnt re-building them mean that they would take apart the entire thing (injector holder and the tip) and fix whatever part is broken (isnt that where reman cummins injectors come from)? he says that there is some sort of ball, or valve, or something that is seated in the injector holder, and when it errodes, it lets the fuel leak down, and having them rebuilt wont fix this.....is that wrong? am I actually going to have to fork out for cummins injectors that will errode all over again?

----EDIT----

I just spoke with an F1 distributer, he says that my mechanic is wrong, and the entire thing can be rebuilt. so I guess I am sending them out to get re-done. thanks for everyones help, and for putting up with the endless threads about my stupid injectors.

My understanding of rebuilt is they fix what's visibly wrong and nothing else, but a reman part is made to be equal to or better then new. BTW, I don't know if this would apply to injectors like it does to rebuilt Alt, water pump or starters.

someone pointed me to a diesel shop here in town, the did the flow test (along with every other test known to man) on the rig, everything passed except for 5 injectors (CP3, lift pump, pressure relief valve). so right off the bat, dodge is off by one, then this shop says it will cost 260 bucks. to replace them (obviously it will be 2000 for the new injectors) so $2,260 bucks, as opposed to $3700.

man....the dealer tried to rip me off by $1440! sweet!

anyway, thanks to JeepManIowa for pointing me to the diesel shop.

at least now I have the problem solved.
where is this shop? name? im in the central iowa area, and it would be good to know where to get some work done!

the shop was Area diesel, off of university and NE 56th (its officially in Altoona). they seem like they know what they are doing. I was kinda put off by the fact that he really wanted to sell me HIS injectors, so he wasnt telling me the truth about what exactly could be fixed. he said that sending them to Don M wouldnt fix my problem, but Don M's dealers are positive they can. other than that, I would take it back.
