My `05 is at the dealer now getting this on the 18-037-04 TSB done.
Here is the thread for this 18-004-04 fast idle TSB.

Some said yes. Seems the controversy was over the `03s having a different fast idle and the `04s+ used the cruise control to manually adjust the fast idle. Most dealers seem to be loading the flash but not enabeling the function afterwards. Will let you know this evening. The link ckennedy has for the TSB shows engine mfg dates pre `04. Mine was mfg'd on 7/04. We'll see...

I don't understand what the transmission has to do with this. Isn't it just a engine thing?

For the autos you know it's in park/neutral before you enable the feature. For the manual trans you might be able to use it like some sort of bizarre cruise control. I'm sure that's unsafe somehow, and hence not allowed.

Ok, here's the skinny:
Just picked up my truck from the dealer. Had the 18-004-04 & 18-037-04 TSBs done. Started her up. Turned the cruise on and the RPMs jumped to 1000. Hit the accel and they went to 1100, again to 1200 - all the way to 1500. Hit the decel/coast and it backed them down 100 RPM a step. I actually think there were 6 or 7 steps but ut worked none the less. Turned the cruise off and it went to normal.

YES - TSB 18-004-04 works on CTD 600s
