Oilguard Bypass Causing Major Blowby?
Oilguard Bypass Causing Major Blowby?
I just drove from AZ to MO towing a empty 16ft trailer and when i got there the bottom of my truck was covered in oil from my blow by tube.
I took it to the dealer and they said it was normal and that the amount it puked up this time was from the bypass returning in the valve cover and running a box.
Ive the bypass and the box on there since May and towed heavy loads and it never did this.
I also thought that maybe an injector was going out but there is no fuel in the oil or at least it does not smell like it and the oil level was only about 1/2 a quart low.

It's only a .050" orifice in the Oilguard. There's lots of guys returning to the oil cap without a problem. Are you sure there isn't an oil leak somewhere? Do you have a lot of blowby? Craig
its from the blow by tube, i got under there and cleaned all the oil from under the truck with brake cleaner and then put a plastic bottle on the tube with a zip tie.
i drove back to AZ from MO with a 86 pontiac fiero on the trailer and a 97 Kawasaki KX250 in the bed and it has about 1 inch of oil in the bottle.

Had mine for over a year now with no probs at all with blow-by . I have NEVER once had to add oil to this beast ......... sounds like you might have a plugged breather or injector leaking to me . Did the dealer send an oil sample to be analyzed ? Doubtful and that's being optimistic ........competent Cummins mechanics are hard to find at Dodge .
20,000 miles on the Oilguard bypass without a hitch. Oil changes at 10,000 mi each time with oil analysis. Numbers very low for contamination and solid for TBN and other good components. Sounds like classic cracked injector symptoms! Is oil level dropping on the stick?
