New truck still under break-in 2600 mi on it and added around 1.5 Qt to her.<br>My 96 from new to 100k never needed any oil between changes!( around 4000mi)<br>Is this what others are seeing? Anyone else check at each fill-up? Do I have a problem?<br>I checked her new with 20 miles on her to see if all the fluids are full and I do not have a leak.<br>What say You?? ??? ??? ??? ???<br>Jon

 

You have 2600 miles and have not changed your oil yet.
I would think at that mark a qrt. to two would be about normal.
I would change it if I owned the truck. (did mine at 2000)
I also recommend the Valveoline Cummins Blue oil.
Also if you run it hard during breakin it will use more oil at first. Change it, use the Blue and use 3 gals. of oil.
Run it 1K and see if it stops burning oil. It should. ;D

 

I have 2600 miles on mine. Check the oil couple times a week and has yet to use any. Have also not changed the oil either.<br><br>But, in a 3 gallon system, I would personally not be alarmed over a qt and a half of oil consumption. I'd wager it will decrease as the engines wears in.<br><br>Both my old 95's used about a qt every 6000 miles. I stopped checking them both. Even at 175,000 the one I still have only uses about a qt every 6000 miles.<br><br>2 cents

 

Mine has over 12K miles on it. Used a qt in the first 2K miles. Following the Calif change interval (B), 3.75K miles. Only down a pint at each change since first 2K miles. Using Chevron Delo 400 15w-40. Costco carries 6 gal case for $31.

 

Well, I'll probably curse myself by saying this.<br><br>My first 2500 miles I went down about 1 quart. I took it to the dealer and changed the oil<br><br>My second 2500 miles the truck used a barely detectable amount of oil it seems.<br><br>As I said. Will probably go out and check it now and it will be below full.

 

I have 20k miles and mine has yet to use any oil. I change it every 5k, changed the first time at 1k.
