oil pressure reading
Re:oil pressure reading
It looks like a gauge, it even acts like a gauge, but it is (sadly) nothing more than a fancy idiot light. It does not read your actual pressure. It does no more than sense that you do indeed have oil pressure, and the computer varies the "guage" readings to "fit customers expectations" or something to that effect. In any case, whoever programed the computer to vary the gauge readings did a good job.
Re:oil pressure reading
It starts moving when it senses 6 psi of oil pressure. It also takes into account the engine temperature and runs a little high while it's cold. There have been numerous threads about this over on TDR.
