Oil pan rusted through!!!

Who sells an oil pan for 3rd gen. dodge wants 800.00 for the pan. I dont want to pay that for a pan that rusted through. Bad enough the rear fenders are rotting off already at 111,000 miles.

That is unbelievable.....the price and the fact that its rusted through. My dad drives a 92 f150 that we had to replace the oil pan on this past spring. 229k miles and 18 yrs of rocky mtn salt.
I think he paid under $200 for the pan, gasket and my free labor.

was that just for the pan or to install it? speaking of installing a new pan you know how fun that will be right? pretty sure you have to lift the motor up a little to get it to clear. Guess i'm going to spray a coat of rust bullet on my pan and rear fenders!

Yeah,It's $799 just for the pan.kicker is I was spraying metal protectant on undercarriage when I saw the leak. My buddy says you can pull valve cover and fan, then remove motor mount bolts and lift motor to get it to clear. Hey Mag hytech,Make a 2 piece aluminium pan and you will sell a million!!!

I saw an oil pan for sale in the classifieds over on Cummins Forum for $50 the other day. Have to dig through the posts. I think it was one of the "part out" threads. Yeah, that is stupid expensive.

Jack up the frame on both sides "up front" until the tires come off the ground. That will allow the suspension to flex, which will in-turn drop the front axle enough that you don't have to take all that crap off the engine to lift it high enough.

oil pan

Was under my 06 several weeks ago, discovred many large rust spots on my oil pan. Took the wire wheel to them and then coated the spots with grease. Oh ya @ 62k my r/r fender rust through in 5 spot. Took it back to Dodge and they fixed it.

i never would have thought oil pans would be rusting through ! unbelievable. i was looking at my pan last weekend and it looks like my front crank seal leaks just enough to prevent the pan rusting through but not enough to worry about.

**** that is bad. Mine just has some 'flaking' going on with it but not that bad. You might want to try some POR 15. It is supposed to be some good stuff.

Well, Dodge is going to fix the pan but not my rotted fenders. Guess I should be happy that I am getting anything. All & all , not bad dealing with them. They were polite and receptive , and returned all my calls.
