Oil Leak.......

I have an oil leak coming from that "half moon" panel located on the front bottom of the transmission case. I looked above tranny and all around and still seems like it is coming from that plate. I would think it would be tranny fluid because of where it is coming from?? But I know it is oil. I tighten the 3 small screws but still have a slow leak. What is under that panel?? Why is it leaking oil there?

Thanks for your help.

Take it back to the dealer... It is probably a rear main seal.
I don't see many do that.. but there have been a couple.

Oil from the breather tube tends to blow back onto the TC cover (that half moon cover you speak of) making it look like it is leaking. My 04.5 did it and my 06 does it. This is fairly normal. The breather tube is on the left side of the motor just in front of the tranny. I know my tranny has a film of oil on it now and a few drops build up occasionally. I just wipe them off when I change the oil. I have never had any oil on the garage floor from this.

Brought the truck to the dealer this morning and when they removed the inspection plate on the Bell Housing, it was "wet" with oil. They wiped the oil and let run for about 30 minutes and it was slowly seaping. Rear Main Seal on order!!! Just my luck to have one of the very few with a bad rear main.

Bummer. I was hoping, for your sake, it was just the breather tube.
