Put new nylon washed on genos heavy duty magnetic plug torqued it to 40 as spec torqued it again today with more movement. Any body else ever do this.

I haven't replaced my nylon washer yet. At first when I first installed the drain plug had the same issue of the plug losing it's torque setting but it's no longer an issue (guessing the nylon material hardened with age/heat).

But when it comes time for replacing the washer I'm going with copper.

Fumoto hangs too low for my liking on a 2wd.

Yeah but the op asked if anyone's ever changed the washer/gasket. I told him why for me. Not trying to convince everyone to go Fumoto. I understand people have their reasons.

The Fumoto with the horizontal outlet's not bad at all. The precision ball valve mechanism ends the drain plug removal/reinstall/torque crap.

Blue Gasket

The Blue Gasket that comes with the Fumoto Valve has been tested and designed to make the proper seal required. Fumoto doesn't recommend replacing it with anything else. Also, the valve is designed to be torqued specifically after hand tightening it. Each valve should come with specific torch instructions but as a good rule of thumb, using the 1/8 to 1/4 turn should be all the torque needed. One final note: if you are moving the valve to a different vehicle and need a new blue gasket, call or contact FumotoUSA and they will replace it for you for free. Hope this helps
