I got the following readings, meter set on 2k:
#1: 1.5
#2: 0.6
#3: 0.6
#4: 0.5
#5: 0.5
#6: 0.5
So it looks like #1 is the bad guy?

it is easy, get a ohm meter on the 04.5 up trucks there is three cylinders per harness plug there is two wires for each injector, short the leads togather and read the lead's resistance next read the solenoid resistance and subtract the lead resistance from it. if it is higher than one ohm it is bad. i have never seen a bad wiring harness but i have seen this plug not make good contact. i built this plate to help with injector change. also this socket.

Remove the gasket all together. One, you can get a more accurate reading at the injector solenoid, 2 you can clean the two connections with battery terminal cleaner (corrosion), 3 if the gasket ohms bad, and not the injectors, it's already off.
I have never done this and I am having problems with the injectors. I think. I already replace the valve cover and still pull a code of p2149. I am going to check the injectors. So I disconnect the valve cover and check the resistance on the injector? Someone please guide me through it, from the standpoint where I have never done anything like this.

if you first check the injectors at the plug you are checking both the injector and wiring harness, this only takes two or three minutes. if you get a reading over 1 ohm on one of them next pull the top cover off i think on the 06 it has two 10 mm bolts and two 8 mm next remove the two vent hoses and next the valve cover. i think it is 6 10 mm bolts with both plugs unhooked from the ecm check the ohms on the high injector. if it is still high it is the injector if it is normal it is the harness. if you need to replace one i will try to post the procedure to put it back in. you have to have two torque wrenches and follow a sequence. one tip put a spot of white paint on the left side of the bridge on the intake and the exhaust. this is a wear part and if you knock it off during the removal you may not be able to tell witch way it was. on the 06 the valve lash was changed to 0.10 and 0.26
i did the first plug last night. i couldnt do the second plug cuz night fell to fast on me. 1,2,and 3 all read .5 . when i get home today ill do the rest. Thanks for the info on how to do it and how to troubleshoot if the readings are over 1ohm.

Your welcome. But this doesn't check them mechanically. But if it failed mechanically, your oil level would be on the rise. Then, you would want to have all 6 tested on a bench.
That isn't necessarily true but that is one indication, most everybody that I know has had their return flow Way out wack or needed to be shimmed & you won't know until you pull them & send them off to be tested! I'm not sure why you guys are just testing the solenoids? If you are having issues or high miles on your injectors then you Need to pull All of them & send them off before one or more stick open on you & cause a piston melt down! It has never made since to me for someone to just pull one to have fixed or one replaced when All of your injectors have the same miles & abuse from not running a 2 or 3 mic fuel filter! If you guys need info on where to send then I will recommend a place since there is only 3 places in the US that are a certified Bosch test facility!

firemanram the thread started out on solenoids and i was staying with it. i agree everyone should be using the 2 micron filters. if a solenoid is bad there is no reason to replace the other injectors. if one injector is worn enough to have a leak down problem i agree that all 6 should be changed rubencumm3 i do not think has enough mechanical skills to do a leak down test of the common rail but if it is not a solenoid and he wants to do it i will walk him through it. rubencumm3 your truck has in-cylinder egr, if your injectors are bad you need to get 50 hp injectors from ddp this is the best one of the three change the cam to a pdr or colt at the same time as injectors to cut labor in half, get a smarty jr and set on default economy this will give you a gain of over 6 mpg lower egt by 350* and keep oil cleaner. if you do the leakdown test about a $100 worth of miller tools makes the job quicker and a whole lot cleaner but i have done it in a field with a buisness card
