I have noticed that I now have a slight "tap" or "clak" in the engine. I have 2 buddies that have an 04.5 and 05 and theirs does not have the "tap,tap,tap" mine does.? It is an 06 with 7200 on the O.D and I noticed it after my goofy brother in law got in the drivers seat and put it to the floor for about 2-3 sec. Has this dumb *** hurt my engine? I will be bringing it in to the dealer to have them look at it, but I doubt their ability to address it. Has anyone heard of this before?

 

Probably a valve out of adjustment.Sounds like a valve tappet on a gas engine.Have them adjust the valves.

 

I have the same tick or clak on my 06 with 12000 on the clock. has done it since the beginning but I thought it was normal until a friend bought a new 06 and his doesnt do it. I am also having hard starting issues with lots of blue smoke on a cold engine even in 70 degree weather. its missing like a plug wire is off a gas engine. Also got the run around at local dealer over the tick and check engine light. He was eager to take my money for the jake brake but he said " if all we had to work on was these cummins, we would be polishing our tool boxes" this was the neck behind the counter that probably has never seen the inside of a tool box!!!

So I am taking my truck to another local dealer. If he gives me crap and cant find out why my truck is doing these things what next? do i persue legal adice//? Someone is going to fix my truck!
