Off Road Driving/Fog Lights

Just had ranchhand grill guard installed and wanting to complete the look with driving lights and fog lights from PIAA up front. Two fog light housings and two driving light housings, all with 55watt bulbs. Should I be concerned with the added electrical needs on stock system? Is there an alternator upgrade for our trucks? Should I consider better batteries?

Thanks in advance!

You won't be using all four lights at the same time. Adding the driving lights with the high beams or the fogs with your low beams and factory fogs won't create enough of a load over stock to make a big differance. I run two 100W lights with my high beams, and the stock system doesn't have any problems at all.

Now if you add multiple lights and battery charging from a trailer, then you might be overloading the system.

Good advice above. Just make sure your add-on lights aren't powered through any existing lights on your truck. Use relays and draw power from the battery or close to it. Our alternators will put out in excess of 140 amps, so they will handle pretty much whatever you can think of.

Same as said above, use your factory high beam wire to turn on a relay and run a heavier gauge wire to your lights and you will be fine. Have you considered LED? I put a 120 watt 24" light bar on my front bumper and it is simply amazing. Go on eBay and do a search for "Wonderfour" they have great prices, seem to be really good quality and they shipped me a full replacement for a very minor problem no questions asked. It is insanely bright and very good offload.

I just finished my Hella 700f to HIDs 55w. Then I plan on getting LEDs for the fogs since I'm running a tube bumper.

You can run projectors in the front with HIDs and not blind everyone on the road...
