odd tranny problem

hey all. i will do my best to describe this wierd problem. almost daily from when truck was new( now 130,000 miles) when backing out of my drive way and then going into drive the peddle would be sticky, a little harder to push. at the same time the truck wont shift unless the rpms get high. what i have to do is quickly tap the peddle to the floor to free it up and all is well.

I have had it to the dealer when under warenty but they couldn't duplicate the problem.

but now its worse. it does it while i am driving. usually in stop and go. if the peddle is sticky while driving and i am stopping at a light, the tc stays engaged while the truck downshifts....not cool.

I think i am the only one with this problem. other than that I am happy with the 48re.

any one else??

I think you have a problem with he TV linkage in the VB hanging and causing your described problems. Could be a bad valve, or bell crank, or just misaligned linkage.

If you out of warranty, a custom VB would be my choice. That way you should get one with all the glitches fixed.

I know very little about tranny's. is there something i could look for? Trace the throttle cable perhaps? I plan to do some tranny work in the future, but this economy is killing me right now so it will have to wait another year.

thanks for the help!

The TV cable hooks to the same place your throttle cable hooks to on the bell crank at the APPS. It runs a lever on the top of the gear shift lever at the trans.

You try tracing the cables to make sure they are good, not kinked or worn. It sounds like it may be internal to the VB though so externally you may not find much.

I would also check the motor mounts and trans mounts. If the drivetrain shifts it may be binding the cables.
