NV5600 shift RPM

What are most of your shifts at unloaded and would pulling it out of gear with no clutch (assuming RPM is right and it will come out of gear) cause any long term affects? Being syncroed I fully understand the importance of using the clutch going into a gear. -E

I shift mine most of the time around 2000. I speed shift mine too sometimes, I think as long as you don't "grind hamburger" it won't hurt anything.

My shift on both trucks are at 1700 rpms when im unloaded and it seems to shift more smooth that way. i pull it out of gear with out the use of a clutch also..but with no load on the tranny and both trannys seem to be fine.

I drive my '07 the same as well as my '01 when I had it w/ a 6 spd. my shifts are cloer to 2200 - 2300 tho. I've got a heavy foot and like to let the turbo do some work. When I sold my '01 it had over 200k. I changed a clutch at 160k and 4th was sloppy goin in. But I had a lot done to it and was well known for dragracing it on the street just about everywhere I went. 4th gear also gets the most abuse in everyone's truck because of where it's at on the pattern. I've noticed myself using the clutch more and shifting 2-4-6.

Good info, I'll add another question in here. Does the 5600 need a hydraulic upgrade when doing a DD?

Normal shifts for me are at about 1800 +/-. 21-2200 seems to let it be into the boost more and not drop rpm as fast between shifts, and makes for a smoother shift to the next gear.

As far as pulling it out of gear without the clutch, I thought that was very bad for the synchros... heard that somewhere along the way. What's the point of not using the clutch? If you don't like shifting, buy an auto : )
