NV5600 All Rusty

Was under the truck thiss weeked looking at PTO outlet. Noticed how rusty the transmission was. The entire thing is a redish orange. Is this the way all of them are? I was very surprised!!!

Mine is the same way. I've considered getting some of that POR (Paint Over Rust) to put on it and pretty it up. Not sure how it would affect the bolts on the PTO covers, etc. Besides...it's under the truck, and I don't look at it that often.

About a year ago, I was at a local dealer. They had a couple of SO's and one new 600 on the lot. I crawled under all of them to see if the cat changed and the first thing I saw was the orange rust you mentioned. Not only the tranny (they were all autos), but everywhere! Diffs, frame, ect.

The next thing I know, I see a set of feet so I slide out and mention the rust to the sales rep and he says they were parked at the back of their lot, which isn't paved, and maybe it's dirt. Yea, that must have been it as both the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy told me the same thing.

All OEM's are the same (trucks, trailers, ATV's, snowmobiles, boats). They can't give you something that will last forever or you would never buy another one.

Make sure you get the undercoating before it leaves the lot. I've also heard good things about using the Rhino bed liner as an undercoating.

I swear Arctic Cat designs their sleds to fail after 2-4k miles of riding (albeit WOT riding at the front of the pack).

I don't mind the rust that much, shoot may even make it more manly. Which is my theory on why DC engineered it that way. However the only thing I like better about Chevy's is their driveshafts are always pretty, I never see them rusty (on the new ones at least) It's almost like they're made out of aluminium.

I sure am glad they put my undercarige on the bottom of the truck. It is always covered with road grime, mud, and rust. It just looks awfull!
