Question Notchy steering

I have a 2006 Q/C 4x4 auto and recently noticed that sometimes when I turn a corner I get some feedback through the steering wheel like a "notchiness" in other words it is not smooth.
To day I put the front end of the truck on stands and started the motor and turned the steering wheel and noted the following:-
1) The steering wheel felt normal.

2) With the wheels pointing straight ahead the drivers side wheel was considerably harder to turn than the passenger side.

3) With the wheels turned completely either to the left or right the drivers side wheel would rotate only about an inch in either direction, whereas the passenger side wheel would rotate freely.

I am thinking this is what is causing the sensation that I feel in the steering wheel.

Does any one have any idea what is going on??

The steering shaft between your steering wheel and steering box sometimes has a little play in it. Almost like a little clunk when you turn sometimes. That could possibly be it. Do a search for that on here and you'll find a few topics about it.
Could be a ball joint starting to go.... play in your sector shaft... tie rod end... wheel bearing. You'll just have to do some exploring

Sounds like you need to replace the axle joint.
