Lately my when i try and engange 4wheel drive the front end does not engage and i get a load clacking noise coming from underneath and sounds to be near or in the transfercase. i have new driveshafts on both ends and im dumbfounded on what it could be. please help!

 

Check the linkage connecting the 4x4 shifter, to the transfer case. Mine lost the bushings at the transfer case, leaving it stuck in 4WD. Hope this helps.

 

I had the same issue...as stated above, I readjusted the linkage and all is good.

 

If it does go into gear by observing from underneath, then it could be a stretched chain in the transfer case.
