Noises on shut down....
Hey all....
I am new to the forums here and just bought my 3500 Dually last night. 04.5 with 22,000 on it. Starts and runs great but when I shut it dow it makes a wierd(to me anyways) noise...like it is sucking in air or something else. Dealer says it's "normal" but I am not ready to believe that...
Any ideas???
Thanks,
Mark

Thanks Timberman.....It was that since this is my first diesel I was concerned as to what was normal and not normal..... Is there a good list of mods to go on the 04.5??? And which ones will be ok and not screw up the warranty???
The three normal noises that I'm aware of are:
1. Serpentine belt will chirp immediately upon shutdown. Many threads on this topic.
2. The high side A/C migrates back to the low side which makes a hissing noise.
3. The turbo spins down for about 10 seconds.

And don't forget the rattle your teath out Cummins shake that lets you know everything is A-O-K when it shuts down
I've had more than a few passengers with me when mine shuts off get a look of total shock and ask whats wrong with the truck.
