No tranny filter??

I am asking this question for a friend who has an 03 quad cab with a Built suncoast tranny. He took his Truck to a local shop to get his MagHytec tranny pan installed .after 7500 miles of driving around the country we pull the pan down to find that there is no filter installed, truck is shifting fine, fluid looks to be normal.Do you think there will be any long term bad effects of running this long with absolutely no filter?

Was the magnet in the pan at least? That usually stops most of the metallic stuff. The old saying goes you're only in trouble if you have left over pieces when you're done. Love to hear the story as to why no filter.

yes the magnet was in the pan and tranny seems to shift fine.It has the deep pan so there were a few extra quarts in there

Not much you can do now. I would assume that he now has a filter in it. If not put one in. By the way the filter is not as critical as the oil filter. It is really a screen for larger particles, not the very small ones. Having said that, get a filter in. It is very important.
