voltage drop and dimming lights
I have an 06 dodge diesel and probably every few days when i start it my voltage gauge goes crazy, my 04 dodge diesel used to do this but not like my 06. the gauge will drop to like 10 and then shoot up to almost 14 and then back and forth the gauge goes and sometimes while i drive it does it too. my buddies 07 dodge does this too but his truck will die. Dealer cant find anything worng with it but i still wonder. Anyone else have this problem or a possible fix?

I think it's the grid heater kicking on and off....
Pretty dang sad when the dealer has no idea what it is.... Ask him to lube your drive shaft and see what he says.

no need to take it so seriously- just having some fun. actually, you might want to get your truck to the dealership asap. a friend's '06 started having erratic voltage readings (non grid heater related) and his battery ended up over charging, causing acid to get on his paint and on his hands.

I would guess it is normal, just more pronounced on your 06 than it was on your 04. It's worth checking out. When you say it is cycling while you are driving, is that at speeds above or below 20mph. If it is above, then there is a problem for sure. I know my Voltage guage will go down to 10 when it is cycling and back up to 14, and you can definitely hear/feel it kicking when it cycles. Good luck with your search.
