Runaway Truck ...newbie Needs Help

My Truck Is An 04 5.9 Automstic Cummins Ram 3500. Truck Idles Fine But As Soon As You Put It In Gear The Truck Steps The Gas Up On Its Own To Make It Run Approx 20 Mph When You Come Up To Red Light You Have To Put Foot On The Brake To Keep It From Running Away But As Soon As You Shift To Neutral It Idles Down To Where It Belongs Need Help... Please

not Sure If This Is The Code Or Not But This Is The Number That Appeared In The Speedometer After Turning Key On And Off 3 Times
P0483. Is This What We Are Looking For And If So What Does It Mean? Thanks

Yes, that's it. Too bad it's only a fan speed error. Was that the only code you got?
Try unhooking both sets of battery cables and let it sit for 20 minutes. Before you hook the cables back up, press the brake, turn the key on, something to that effect, to ground out the system...
I'm stumped on the over revving only in gear... I'm thinking...

Isn't there a solenoid or something on the tranny that controls line pressure and etc? How many miles and what has been done to the tranny if anything?

Sound like an issue I had with a fule injected gas motor in my 71 Blazer. Essentially, the torque converter I have is a very low stall speed. To low really. Almost to where it will not unlock and wants to kill the motor during a stop of in gear. The fuel injection tries to compensate and bumps up the RPM and I have to really hold on the brake...
I am going to be changing the trans/torque converter soon there.

Sounds like what mine did when the torque convertor was having issues. Ended up with a new convertor, and a bunch of other parts in the trans.
